Goodwell Investments, the Netherlands’ longest-standing impact investment firm, is making waves in the Ugandan market with its inaugural investment in the Agent Banking Company of Uganda. This fintech company is dedicated to improving access to high-quality and affordable financial services for underserved communities across the region.

Plans to Empower Africa

By partnering with ABC, the Dutch investment firm aims to drive positive change and empower people through improved financial inclusion. Although specific financial details of the investment remain undisclosed, the collaboration signifies a strategic move towards fostering economic development in Uganda. Richard Jabel, the CEO of the Agent Banking Company of Uganda, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that the funding will play a crucial role in driving the next phase of the company’s expansion. He further mentioned that the investment will prove to be crucial in enhancing their service offerings, allowing ABC to provide a comprehensive variety of important financial services that can be accessed via agents, merchants and mobile phones.

This collaboration not only positions ABC to broaden its reach but also aims to transform the way financial services are delivered in Uganda, ensuring that more people have access to the resources they need for financial stability and empowerment.

Over the years Goodwell Investments has successfully launched 5 funds. What’s more, the company oversees more than €330 million in capital as of now. The firm specializes in providing early-stage equity to high-growth, high-impact businesses that aim to deliver essential goods and services to underserved communities across countries like Africa and India.
